Following the words of the holy righteous John of Kronstadt: “It is good to light candles in front of icons. It’s better when you sacrifice God’s fire of love to God and to your neighbor. It’s good that both happen at the same time. If you light candles, but do not have love for God and neighbor in your heart: you are stingy, you live peacefully, then your sacrifice to God is worthless.”

For your prayers to be successful, you need to pray in words that come from your heart, with faith and hope for God’s help. And remember that not everything that a person asks of the Lord is worthwhile for him. The Lord is not a machine, as He decides everything that needs to be done, but as soon as you press the required button, everything that He overpowers is directed to the selfishness and outrage of the soul, although sometimes people find it unjust.
