How many days does the temperature last with the flu. How long does the temperature last for flu in children: features, norm and recommendations of specialists

In most people, 7-10 days after infection with the flu, full recovery... But in some cases complications develop, and during an epidemic, 0.2% of patients die. That is why all infected people experience when the temperature with the flu lasts for more than 5 days.

Why doesn't the temperature drop with the flu?

The usual seasonal flu lasts about 5-10 days. One of the first signs of this disease is fever. It can be both very high and within 37.5 degrees. How many days the temperature with the flu will last depends on the strain that caused it. So, most often with a seasonal viral disease, high rates on the thermometer are observed for the first 2-5 days, and with bird flu they can last up to 17 days!

Most patients do not know how long the temperature lasts with flu, and believe that if it persists for a long time, this indicates the occurrence of complications. Of course, this is not excluded in cases where the disease lasts an unusually long time, and the person does not get better. But usually a temperature of more than 37 is observed in patients who, during the flu:

  • did not start taking medications on time;
  • did not adhere to the treatment regimen;
  • overloaded their body with physical activity;
  • not strengthened by folk methods or with the help of medicines.
Do I need to bring down the temperature with the flu?

You no longer have chills, cough, sore throat and other symptoms of the disease, and the readings on the thermometer are still above 36.6 ° C? Why does the temperature persist after the flu, and should it be brought down? It is believed that fever is a normal protective reaction of the body to the action of the virus, if it is moderate, that is, within 38.5 degrees. If after the flu the temperature is between 37 ° C and 38.5 ° C and the patient tries to bring it down medicationthen this leads to a wider spread of the infection.

Moderate fever is important for the body because it contributes to:

  • increased antitoxic liver function;
  • stimulating the production of antibodies and other protective reactions;
  • the appearance of a bacteriostatic effect (inhibition of harmful bacteria)
  • excretion of decay products by the kidneys;
  • increasing the activity of various enzymes and bactericidal properties of blood serum.

If, with the flu, the temperature remains above 39 ° C, it is very dangerous, since the patient may experience delirium, convulsions, hallucinations, and respiratory and circulatory disorders may appear.

When will the temperature drop with the flu?

How long will the temperature with the flu last, when other symptoms have already passed? It depends on many factors, but you can speed up your recovery by helping your body fight off the infection. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids. Usually, the temperature drops by 3-5 days if the patient drinks more than 2.5 liters of water, herbal infusions or tea with lemon or raspberries. A large amount of fluid helps to eliminate toxic substances and thin the blood.

Is it hot in your house? The room temperature is over 22 ° C and you haven't used a humidifier for a long time? This is bad. In the room where the patient should be comfortable. Ventilate the room and keep the temperature between 19-21 ° C.

Influenza is one of the most serious viral diseases, which is often carried in a severe form, with many unpleasant symptoms and side effects. Heat is one of them.

How many days does the temperature last with flu in both an adult and a child? Does it need to be knocked down, when and with what - that is what worries every sick person.

The temperature does not always rise very much, the flu can proceed without fever, while the patients get sick.

The temperature may rise slightly and last for 1-2 days, but then, subject to bed rest and taking the necessary medications, it gradually returns to normal. In this case, the flu is sick for about seven days.

If the temperature does rise, this indicates that urgent measures need to be taken, otherwise it can last a very long time and provoke dangerous complications.

How to recognize the flu

People often get the flu and are unaware of it until they reach a critical condition. High fever is far from the only and main symptom of pathology; influenza can have other characteristic signs:

  1. Severe headaches and joint pains.
  2. Muscle aches.
  3. Intense sweating.
  4. Chills and fever.
  5. General weakness.
  6. Cough and runny nose.
  7. Lethargy, loss of appetite.
  8. Swelling of the tonsils and lymph nodes.
  9. In severe cases, hallucinations and vomiting.

At its core, flu is the strongest intoxication of the human body with the products of the vital activity of viruses, hence the rise in temperature. How long it can hold on depends largely on the person himself, his immunity, age, compliance with the doctor's prescriptions.

Severe influenza lasts up to 3 weeks. All of the above symptoms are noted for the first 7-10 days. Then the patient's condition begins to improve. But weakness, irritability, headaches and lack of appetite may persist for several more weeks.

Influenza can be a trigger for exacerbation chronic diseases recovered.

What can be the temperature with the flu

As mentioned, fever is far from a necessary symptom of the flu. Sometimes it rises only in the first days, and then until the very recovery it is kept at 37 degrees, in some cases it may even be.

But it also happens, the temperature rises to 40 degrees and does not subside for a week. If the flu is caused by atypical viruses, the fever can last up to 2 weeks - this is often the case with swine flu.

If the temperature does not drop even after 14 days of bed rest and treatment, a doctor should be called at home or the patient should be admitted to a hospital. This means that his body cannot overcome the disease on its own and the treatment is carried out incorrectly, the patient needs urgent help.

Temperature is always an indicator that the body is struggling to fight infection pathogens. When viruses enter the bloodstream, the immune system immediately begins to actively produce antibodies - leukocytes and macrophages. A blood test shows their high content, this indicates that there is inflammatory process and the body opposes it.

Fever and fever are largely normal in influenza, indicating that the body is trying to suppress viruses and stop toxicity. Also, high temperature is a sign of such processes in the body with influenza:

  1. Enhanced kidney function - it is they that remove the decay products of viruses.
  2. Intensive liver function - it neutralizes toxins.
  3. Increasing the bactericidal properties of blood plasma.
  4. Increased production of antibodies to fight viruses.
  5. Activation of various enzymes, which also help to eliminate intoxication and improve immunity.

If the temperature reaches 39 degrees, the patient may experience convulsions, hallucinations, and severe vomiting. It should be understood that at high temperatures the heart and lungs also work more actively, the load on them increases several times. because high temperature you need to shoot down, it is dangerous.

But there is no need to lower the temperature of 38.0-38.5 degrees with medicines or other methods, otherwise the virus can spread throughout the body and infect many organs.

How to lower heat

Influenza can run differently for everyone. Sometimes all the symptoms go away, but the temperature continues to be held for a long time. What to do in this case? It is recommended to drink as much liquid as possible - the body will quickly remove toxins along with sweat and urine.

Fruit drinks, compotes, herbal teas and teas, just clean water - all this should be drunk every day in an amount of at least two liters. You can add lemon and honey to drinks.

It is necessary to monitor the purity of the air and the level of humidity in the room where the patient is. Viruses die in well-humidified, clean air. Therefore, the room needs to be ventilated several times a day, daily wet cleaning, removing dust from all surfaces, humidifying the air using air conditioners, humidifiers or just containers of water and towels soaked in it.

By the way, interesting information, and it may be useful to the reader.

Naturally, you need to take medications, but only those and in the dosage prescribed by the doctor. Almost always, preparations with vitamin C and paracetamol are prescribed - they help fight viruses. But some of them increase blood pressure and have serious contraindications. Therefore, self-medication is contraindicated.

The disease can be stopped in time and complications can be prevented if you carefully monitor your health during epidemics and in the cold season. Having discovered the first symptoms of a cold, it is recommended to start taking immunomodulators and vitamins. At this stage, this is enough to help the body cope with viruses and infections on its own.

During epidemics, at the first sign of flu, you should refrain from visiting crowded places, avoid public transport, especially during rush hours, if required, take a sick leave at work and stay at home for several days. All these measures will be an excellent prevention of influenza and help to maintain health without long-term drug treatment, which Elena Malysheva and her guests will tell in detail about in the video in this article.

Influenza is a severe viral illness accompanied by fever. In this case, the question often arises - how long does the temperature last with the flu.

The disease can be quite difficult, in this case it is necessary to take urgent measures to cure the sick person. If the flu proceeds without any complications, then, as a rule, recovery comes in a week. In this case, the temperature rises quickly, but decreases already by 3-5 days. To avoid complications, you must not break bed rest and strictly adhere to the treatment that the doctor prescribed.

Influenza can easily be confused with other types colds... Its main difference lies in the powerful intoxication of the body. From this, the following symptoms appear:

  • rapid rise in temperature;
  • fever;
  • headache;
  • chills;
  • a state of general weakness and malaise;
  • muscle pain and aches;
  • heavy sweating;
  • lack of appetite;
  • cough;
  • nasal congestion;
  • pharyngitis;
  • hallucinations, vomiting (in case of severe disease).

The most important symptom of illness is fever. How long it can hold out depends on the degree of intoxication with the waste products of those viruses that caused the flu.

The above symptoms in an adult can last for about a week. With proper treatment, symptoms begin to subside after about 10 days. After that, for about 2-3 weeks, weakness and some nervousness may be observed. The transferred flu can often serve as a source of exacerbation of existing chronic diseases.

In any case, if you observe flu symptoms, you should immediately consult your doctor. Based on the test results, he will make the correct diagnosis and prescribe adequate treatment.

Flu temperature

The temperature can rise to 39-40 ̊С, but it can stay within 37 С. With a good course of the disease, the temperature with the flu lasts no more than 6 days. In some cases, it can last for about 2 weeks. This happens if the flu is caused by atypical pathogens. This is the limit of the rate of the disease. If the temperature does not drop further, then it is worth calling the doctor home.

Such anomalies imply that the body cannot cope with the virus on its own and complications have begun. This is due to a violation of the regime or not correct treatment.

A high temperature in a disease such as the flu is always a protective reaction of the body to infectious agents - bacteria or viruses. When they enter the body, protective blood cells (macrophages and leukocytes) are actively produced. They enrich the blood with endogenous pyrogens that stimulate the body to fight the virus. This is the reason for the rise in temperature. Fever has specific health implications:

  • suppression of the reproduction of viruses;
  • excretion of decay products by the kidneys;
  • increased antitoxic liver function;
  • synthesis of antibodies and other reactions of the body;
  • increased activity of various enzymes;
  • an increase in the bactericidal properties of blood serum.

These processes are observed when the body temperature rises to 38 ̊С. If it reaches 39, then convulsions and hallucinations may occur. It is dangerous to disturb breathing, central nervous system, blood circulation.

It is important to understand that fever is a completely normal reaction of the body to the penetration of foreign microorganisms. It is recommended to reduce it only after it reaches a certain limit and can become dangerous. You cannot bring down the temperature if it is less than 38-38.5 degrees. This can lead to an even greater spread of the infection.

What to do at high temperatures

It so happens that the symptoms have passed, but the temperature remains. It can last long enough. At the same time, all doctors recommend drinking a lot of fluids. So the body itself removes toxins along with water. That is, the person begins to sweat a lot.

Pure water, teas, fruit drinks, compotes, herbal tinctures will perfectly help in the fight against intoxication. Drink at least 2 liters per day. This helps to lower the temperature. It is not for nothing that the people say that the disease goes away with sweat.

Also, the room must be ventilated several times a day so that self-infection does not occur. If the air is dry, the humidifier must be turned on. If not, then you can hang wet towels in the room. The air temperature is considered optimal if it is not higher than 20 degrees. In addition, you should do wet cleaning every day. Viruses do not live long in clean air.

When treating the flu, you can use antiviral drugs, such as Kagocel, Antigrippin, Arbidol, Viferon. They actively affect the infection, thereby helping the sick person recover faster.

It must be remembered that all medications must be used as directed by a physician.

Before taking medications, it is imperative to read the instructions, in particular the contraindications column. Current medications may contain substances that increase blood pressure. For the flu, doctors usually prescribe medications that contain paracetamol and vitamin C. They relieve the symptoms of the disease. Herbal preparations (coltsfoot, chamomile, rose hips, etc.) and conventional antitussive pills help to cope with coughs.

In conclusion, it should be said that health needs to be monitored, especially during various epidemics. The disease does not need to be started, otherwise complications may arise. Treatment should be started at the first signs. At this stage, the body itself does a good job, but it would not hurt to help the immune system. For this, there are immunomodulatory drugs. Also, do not forget about clean and fresh air. During illness, you should not go to work, it is better to stay at home. Be healthy!

How long does the temperature last with flu?

Most people recover completely within 7-10 days after contracting the flu. But in some cases complications develop, and during an epidemic, 0.2% of patients die. That is why all infected people experience when the temperature with the flu lasts for more than 5 days.

How long does the temperature last with flu in children?

With the onset of cold weather, all kinds of viruses that cause flu are activated. You can pick it up anywhere - in transport, at school, kindergarten and even in an elevator, next to a sick person. Therefore, it is very important during an epidemic to contact as little as possible with a large mass of people, walk in parks, squares, and temporarily cancel entertainment events.

Perhaps the most difficult thing during the flu in children is the high temperature, which literally exhausts the body. It hurts to look at the child - yesterday he laughed and frolicked, and today he lies sluggish, refuses food, drink, is capricious. And the temperature stubbornly does not want to subside, and if it drops by a few tenths of a degree, then literally for an hour, and then rises again.

What is the temperature with flu in children?

The flu strain that a child has caught, as well as the child's ability to resist infection, affect the temperature during illness. Usually, it is very high - 39-40 ° С, and sometimes even exceeds the critical mark.

If the mother cannot cope with such large numbers, the temperature does not drop in any way, the child refuses to drink, then home treatment is highly undesirable. It is better if the baby is under the supervision of doctors who will not allow a critical situation.

In some cases, the temperature does not rise too much and is at 38-39 ° C. Even if the baby falls ill in the midst of an epidemic, it is not at all necessary the flu. The diagnosis can only be made by a doctor, and even then not in absentia, but on the basis of tests.

Duration of the acute phase of the disease

Most worried parents are concerned about how many days the temperature with flu in children lasts. This question cannot be answered unequivocally, since the duration of the disease in the acute phase depends on many components.

This is the general condition of the patient's body, and its ability to fight a viral infection, the presence or absence of bed rest (relevant for adolescents), a type of influenza virus (strain), adequate or inappropriate treatment, caring for a child during illness.

In addition, the duration of the period from elevated temperature also depends on the presence of complications in the form of pneumonia, otitis media and other disorders. That is, in total, with a severe course of influenza with complications, the time when the child's fever does not subside can stretch even for two weeks.

On average, the duration of the disease is 5-7 days. That is, a high fever with flu in children lasts as long as the body needs to fight the virus. It decreases by the fifth or seventh day, but only on condition of correct treatment and compliance with the instructions of the attending physician.

When parents know how many days the child has a temperature with flu, and this limit has already been exceeded, that is, the disease is not going to pass, most likely to the main viral disease a secondary infection caused by bacteria has connected.

A complication of influenza can be suspected in the course of the child's illness. If the temperature began to gradually decrease, after acute stage disease, and then again jumped to a critical point, then a doctor's consultation is urgently needed - most likely pneumonia, which happens most often, or another complication has begun.

In addition to the high temperature, the mother should be alerted to increased coughing, wheezing when breathing, complaints of pain in the back and chest. The sooner you start treating complications from the flu, the better the prognosis for recovery. And if an influenza viral infection is not treated with antibiotics, then with a bacterial one they will already be required.

I must say that the influenza virus is very variable and, accordingly, if a person encounters a new strain of the virus, he can get sick every year. Influenza is not a harmless disease. It can pose a real threat to the health and even the life of the patient. The first symptoms of the flu are chills, sharp rise temperature (up to 39-400C), aches throughout the body, headache, pain in the eyeballs, nasal congestion, weakness. A little later, a dry cough appears, a sore throat, the face and eyes turn red. At first, there is no runny nose. He appears on the second or third day of illness. At the first symptoms of the flu, you need to go to bed. You cannot carry the flu on your feet, it can cause complications, which are primarily dangerous.

The flu usually lasts five to seven days. If the temperature lasts longer, it's time to sound the alarm. The flu is more severe in the elderly, in those who suffer from chronic diseases, for example bronchial asthma, diabetes mellitus, ischemic disease heart, etc. Such patients should immediately consult a doctor.

Influenza is a type of SARS caused by the influenza virus. The disease affects people regardless of gender and age and is considered one of the most severe viral infections... It is characterized by a sudden onset and repeated cases of the disease. It has severe symptoms of intoxication and affects the upper airways and lungs. The incubation period for influenza varies from several hours to 3 days, on average 1-2 days.

Influenza is characterized by the development of epidemics that occur every year, most often during the cold season, and affect about 15% of the world's population. Up to 500 million people worldwide fall ill with the flu every year. In Russia, about 40 million cases are registered every year. Repeating from year to year, the flu in total takes about a year of full life from us. Suffering from fever, general weakness and malaise, a person becomes practically helpless. In addition, the recovery period from illness can take about a month, during which a person who has already recovered is still unable to do their usual activities. A severe course of influenza is fraught with complications from the cardiovascular, respiratory and central nervous systems.

In each case, the flu can proceed differently - depending on the age of the patient, the general condition of the body and immunity, the subtype of the virus, etc. By the nature of the course, influenza is divided into typical and atypical, and by the presence of complications - uncomplicated and complicated. The atypical form of flu answers the question: "Can the flu go on without fever?" Yes, in this case it is possible, and only a doctor can determine the flu.

Influenza differs from other acute respiratory viral infections:

  • Lightning start... A person can always tell the exact time when he felt sick.
  • High temperature... If, with a common cold, the temperature rarely rises above 38.5 ° C and is more manifested by such symptoms as nasal congestion and sore throat, then with the flu, the opposite is true. What is the most common temperature for flu? The answer to this question is as follows: flu is characterized by a rapid rise in temperature to 39-40 ° C and keeping it for 3-4 days.
  • Strong intoxication... The body is poisoned by the decay products of viral particles and the body's own protective cells. This process is accompanied by severe muscle aches, headache and dizziness.
  • Redness of the eyes... Influenza is accompanied by severe redness of the conjunctiva - the inner lining of the eye.
  • Long recovery period... If after a cold a person can immediately return to their usual way of life, then after the flu, the recovery period can take a whole month.

The onset of influenza is characterized by symptoms of intoxication: muscle aches, headache, chills, photophobia. All these symptoms appear on the first day of illness. Also, in the first hours of the disease, the temperature rises to a maximum of 39-40 ° C. The level of fever depends on the degree of intoxication of the body. In some cases, at a high temperature, the symptoms of intoxication may not be pronounced sharply. This is typical for young patients with influenza caused by the A virus. In this case, the temperature is kept for a shorter amount of time than usual.

With influenza A, the fever lasts about 2-5 days, with influenza B, a little longer. In some cases, after the temperature has dropped, after a day or two, it can rise to its previous maximum level. This is due to the addition of a bacterial infection or exacerbation of chronic diseases. How long the temperature lasts with flu in an adult depends on the general condition of the body and the severity of the course of the disease.

The flu course is divided into 3 forms:

  • Light form... The temperature does not exceed 38 ° C and decreases to normal in 2-3 days. Symptoms of intoxication are mild.
  • Moderate form... The temperature reaches 39 ° C, the fever lasts 4-5 days, symptoms of intoxication are expressed, lesions appear respiratory system... The most common form of influenza.
  • Severe form... The temperature exceeds 40 ° C, the fever lasts more than 5 days, severe intoxication. Requires immediate hospitalization.

At what temperature does the flu virus die?

An increase in temperature with flu is a normal protective reaction of the body, designed to destroy the causative agent of the disease. The flu virus literally burns out in the body at high temperatures.

That is why the temperature cannot be brought down if it is below 38-38.5 ° C. The body should be helped by drinking plenty of fluids, as well as creating an optimal ambient temperature. It is better if it does not exceed 22 ° C. The exceptions are patients who do not tolerate high temperatures, as well as children and pregnant women. At temperatures above 39 ° C, in addition to the virus, cells of the body are destroyed. In this case, you can resort to using means to lower the temperature.

It is necessary to urgently call an ambulance with the following symptoms:

One of the symptoms of influenza infection is considered to be an increase in body temperature. Thus, the body tries to fight the disease on its own. But sometimes the fever “rolls over”, rises above subfebrile numbers and no longer just brings discomfort to the patient, but threatens his life. In such cases, the symptom should be disposed of.

Another important question that interests most people: how long does the temperature last with flu? How long can you endure a fever with everything that accompanies it - headaches, malaise, and so on? And with what drugs or other means will it be possible to fight it?

High fever is considered one of the main signs of flu

Influenza is a fairly severe viral disease, one of the main symptoms of which is high fever.

With mild to moderate forms of this disease, it takes about a week to suffer from all its symptoms. The fever rises quickly, but by about the third (maximum - the fifth) day it already begins to subside.

But if you do not treat the disease or start the therapeutic course too late, you can face serious complications and prolong the flu. Severe form requires urgent action.

In terms of general symptoms, it is quite possible to confuse influenza infection with any other acute respiratory viral infection and simply with a cold. But the intoxication in the case of the flu is more pronounced. Fever, by the way, is one of the direct consequences of intoxication of the body with the products of viral activity. Other consequences should be noted:

  • pain in the head and muscles;
  • chills;
  • general malaise;
  • runny nose;
  • poor appetite;
  • active sweating;
  • dry cough;
  • sore throat.

How long does the temperature last with flu? This is determined by the current degree of intoxication. Even when the infection goes away, that is, the person recovers, for several weeks he may feel too weak. Immunity has not yet had time to strengthen and, therefore, there is a possibility of secondary infection, that is, a relapse of the disease.

In cases where the patient is already suffering from some kind of chronic ailments, the flu can provoke their exacerbation.

That is why it is so important to contact a qualified medical specialist in a timely manner, who will carefully examine the patient, possibly refer him for additional examinations and analyzes.

Why is a fever needed?

How many days does the temperature last with flu? Usually no longer than 3, 5 or 6 days, but in the case of a severe infection, of course, this period can be longer (for example, a couple of weeks, when the cause of the disease is in atypical pathogens).

Sometimes it is kept at a subfebrile level, and at times it exceeds 38 degrees. Too prolonged fever, which, moreover, exceeds 38.5 degrees and does not subside, despite the effect of antipyretics, requires a visit to a doctor (at best, of course, a doctor's call home).

Fever helps the body fight infection

Everything indicates that the body is no longer able to cope with the disease on its own. He needs outside qualified help.

Initially, the body uses fever as a defense against infectious agents, both viral and bacterial. Once they are in the human body, and protective cells begin to be produced in the blood, thanks to which the blood is enriched with endogenous pyrogens. They stimulate the body for antiviral activity.

By increasing the temperature, the immune system tries to achieve the following functions:

  • suppress viral reproduction;
  • remove decay products;
  • enhance the antitoxic functionality of the liver;
  • synthesize antibodies;
  • increase the activity of various enzymes;
  • improve the bactericidal properties of blood serum.

People are interested in how long high body temperature readings last with flu. But it is also important to understand when to reduce them in order to prevent complications (if the indicators exceed 39 degrees, irreversible changes may begin in the body, convulsions and even hallucinations are quite possible, breathing and blood circulation will be disturbed). This applies to both an adult and (even more so!) A child.

Despite the fact that fever can be considered as a normal reaction of the human body to the fact that there is a foreign element in it, it must be constantly monitored. But it is also by no means possible to reduce it ahead of time - you should allow the immune system to overcome the disease itself. Once you get rid of a fever, you will not recover yet, but only remove the main symptom.

Often, people drink antipyretic drugs even with subfebrile levels and then believe that they have been able to get rid of the disease: they no longer observe bed rest, begin to actively contact other people, go to school or work. And the virus at this time continues to actively multiply and spread, infecting other people and threatening to end with some serious complication.

Coping with symptoms

Sometimes the temperature is gone, but the symptoms continue further. And this has been going on for a long time.

Best of all, herbal tinctures and teas, compotes help to fight intoxication. And, of course, clean water. Drinking plenty of fluids can also help reduce fever.

Do not forget about the importance of constant ventilation of the room - it helps to avoid self-infection. If the air is too dry, use a humidifier or simply hang up wet towels. The optimal temperature regime should not exceed 20 degrees. Wet cleaning should be carried out daily - the cleaner the air in the room, the more difficult it is for the virus to "get on" and multiply in it.

Walking in the fresh air is also beneficial. But, of course, you need to dress warmly - especially if the season is cold.

To avoid the maximum fever with flu, along with antipyretics, the doctor may prescribe antiviral drugs that are aimed at directly fighting the infection. But before taking any of them, you must carefully read the instructions, familiarize yourself with the indications and contraindications, and, of course, consult a medical specialist.

It should be noted that the temperature dynamics in case of infection with ARVI can change regularly. It rises and falls. Moreover, in the afternoon - the indicators may be normal, and by the evening - they rise again... Why it happens? Why sometimes the temperature rises and then does not subside for a long time?

These are the features of influenza infection. Therefore, it is necessary to tirelessly monitor that the fever does not exceed the permissible limits, otherwise serious complications may begin because of this.

The duration of the temperature may also depend on the type of acute respiratory viral infection. For example, with the Hong Kong flu, it can last for 14 or more days. If we are talking about standard flu, and the indicators do not fall below 38 degrees for 5 days, the doctor should be notified of this.

If treatment is not started on time, then it will be difficult to bring down the high temperature

Most often this happens due to the fact that the patient:

  • started the treatment course out of time;
  • did not follow the therapy regimen;
  • overloaded the body with various physical loads;
  • did not strengthen the immune system (for which there is not only medicines, but also folk ways).

That is why it is impossible to treat ARVI treatment superficially, unless, of course, you want to face complications.

Fever in children

Another important question of interest to many parents: how many days should the temperature hold for children with flu and what indicators can be considered acceptable?

Fever can exhaust a child's body that has not yet hardened. Often, even antipyretic drugs do not help: if you manage to bring down high rates, then for a very short time. An hour later, the semi-faint state returns again.

Much depends on which child is diagnosed with the flu strain.... For example, with influenza A, temperature readings may well exceed critical levels. In such cases, the patient needs constant supervision by a doctor - therefore, children are often treated in stationary conditions.

But even if the treatment takes place at home, parents cannot diagnose themselves and prescribe medications on their own.

On what day does a child's temperature drop with flu? The duration of the acute period of the disease can be different. It depends on the:

  • type of viral infection;
  • whether or not bed rest was observed;
  • the adequacy of treatment;
  • correct patient care.

Among other things, you should take into account possible complications - such as pneumonia, otitis media, and so on. In the worst cases, the temperature lasts two weeks, and in a standard situation - 3, 4 days it can reach 39 degrees, and begins to drop to 38 and below about 6 days.

Prolonged flu is fraught with dangerous complications

With a long course of the disease, one may suspect bacterial complication... Although it will be possible to make sure of this only after passing the necessary examinations and seeing a doctor.

Sometimes a rise in temperature is an indicator of pneumonia. Especially if the active fever initially subsides, and after a while it starts again.

Along with fever, parents should be alert when the following symptoms appear:

  • increased cough;
  • wheezing breathing;
  • pain in chest and back.

If you bring down a fever, you should not try to bring it to the levels inherent in a healthy person. It is quite enough if these are subfebrile numbers.

When a doctor prescribes antibiotics, antipyretics are usually not taken at the same time.

Like adults, you need to drink more fluids: tea with raspberries, herbal infusions, and mineral water that does not contain gas are especially useful. Protein as well as fatty foods should be excluded. Moreover, when the baby has no appetite, you should not force him to eat. It is advisable to eat vegetables and fruits. Porridges made on water are effective in nutrition.

It is necessary for the child's body to spend energy not on digesting food, but on fighting infection. If you help him in every way, the fever should not last long.

The high temperature can be knocked down with rubdowns (water temperature should be about 35 degrees) and warm compresses.

The renowned doctor Komarovsky gives some advice on what parents should do when a child's temperature rises and lasts too long.

But aspirin should not be given to a baby.

Temperature indicators go astray only when they exceed 38.5 degrees. Moreover, to normalize them, it is better to use Ibuprofen or Paracetamol.

It is advisable to dress the child warmly, and regularly ventilate the room in which he is located and make sure that the air in it is not dry. Preparations containing artificial interferon are best avoided - their effectiveness has not been proven by doctors, but side effects may well be.

Komarovsky advises not to bring down the temperature until it reaches 38.5 degrees

As for how long the temperature usually lasts with flu, Dr. Komarovsky replies that it depends on the current strain and the characteristics of the child's body. In any case, you should not rely on the possibility of self-diagnosis and cure of the disease - be sure to contact a qualified medical specialist already at the first suspicion of an infection.
