Monkeys look for fleas as they say. Monkey. A dry dog's nose is a sign of illness

Many children from an early age believe this statement is correct. However, in reality, it has nothing to do with the favorite pastimes of the ostrich. Why is it sometimes possible to observe it in a posture with the head down? First of all, when feeding - the animal treats food in this way. In addition, an ostrich can hide its head from the scorching sun or simply rest, thus relaxing the neck muscles.

The dog barks exclusively when it wants to attack

Many people believe that dogs bark just before an attack, but this is far from the case. It turns out that the opposite is true. The dog thus calls for your attention, warning that you have entered his territory. In this case, the dog's unwillingness to engage in a fight is manifested, barking means a request to leave the "territory" of the animal. Any predator attacks in silence. When you see a predator with flattened ears, an arched back, slowly and silently walking towards you, then expect an attack.

Monkeys look for fleas from each other

Water accumulates in the humps of camels

Many representatives of this species of animals died at the hands of a person thirsty in the desert. However, it has been scientifically proven that there is no water in the humps of camels. But it is in this part of the body that a large amount of fat accumulates, which is split into carbon dioxide and just into water. Therefore, a camel can easily adhere to an anhydrous diet for several weeks.

Swallows fly low before precipitation

Swallows and swifts can be seen flying low. However, this does not necessarily indicate that you need to go for. In fact, these birds feed on insects, which can be closer to the ground in cloudy weather. It is for such food that the swallows descend. But this is not always the case. With a little rain, you can see swallows soaring high in the sky.

Touching a toad is the cause of the appearance of warts

From childhood, this can intimidate ours. But only in order not to grab onto something. Some types of toads can cause allergic reactions, certain types are poisonous, but warts are grandmother's tales. In some countries, toads are generally eaten.

Bright red irritates bulls

Why do bullfighters have red canvases? According to research by scientists, bulls do not distinguish colors. They react to movement. Therefore, it does not matter at all which canvas will be in front of this strong creature. Hence, we conclude that the color of the wardrobe when meeting a bull may not be red, but still lead to undesirable consequences.

A dry dog's nose is a sign of illness

Modern pet specialists reassure owners who care about the health of their pets. There is no connection with the dry nose of the animal and the disease! This could be due to normal fatigue or hot dry weather.

If you put a frog in a jar of milk, the latter will not sour longer.

This method was often used in the villages by our great-great-great-grandmothers. Although, in fact, milk sours from rapidly multiplying bacteria. But frogs are in no way guilty of consuming the latter. Therefore, it makes absolutely no sense to throw amphibians in liquid.

Surely those who like to watch TV shows about the life of animals have seen a scene typical of monkeys: in the afternoon, a flock of monkeys is in bliss. There is more than enough food, no one is hungry or thirsty, and there are no predators on the horizon. And so, pissed off with happiness, the monkeys begin to dig into each other's wool. But what can you find there for yourself?

People make this conclusion based on their observations of the behavior of pets, because dogs and cats periodically make not very clever attempts to catch fleas with the help of claws and teeth.

It would seem, what doubts can there be? Dug in someone else's wool, found a bloodsucker, caught and sent him into his mouth. Everything is obvious! However, one should not rush to conclusions.

First, the monkey's fingers cannot be compared with human fingers in their dexterity. The monkey's hand is great for climbing trees, but not for small jobs like sewing or picking up small objects, which include fleas. Try to catch a flea on the body of your cat or dog, if they are, of course. Most likely, it will be quite difficult even for a person with his hand trained in small movements.

In fact, what people mistake for looking for fleas is looking for salt crystals. These crystals are nothing more than salt deposited on the animal's fur as a result of perspiration. It is her that primates are looking for on the body of their fellow primates, thus striving to replenish their mineral reserves.

Simply put, this activity is nothing more than a reception of the mineral complex. Only a person goes to the nearest pharmacy for this, and monkeys do not need to go so far.

But even this is not the most important thing. Much more important is the social component of this occupation, which is something like a monkey combing, or, in the language of professionals, grooming. The fact is that monkeys are social animals living in their own society, which is sometimes subject to very complex laws and where, as in human society, you periodically have to sort things out.

Grooming, on the other hand, is a pleasant enough procedure that helps to appease an aggressive-minded individual. In addition, with its help, an animal can achieve location in the animal that occupies a higher hierarchical position in the flock, that is, in simpler terms, has a higher status.

In fact, a monkey, smoothing the fur of its more status-like relative, is doing the same thing as a man who is trying to win the favor of his boss by giving him gifts and rendering certain services.

Scientists who have studied the psychology of monkeys have long noticed that mostly low-ranking individuals are engaged in "combing", and they almost always carry out this procedure in relation to high-ranking animals. One case was even noticed when one of the males managed to take a high position in the flock, and became a high-ranking individual not because of his physical strength, but with the help of cunning diplomacy. This four-handed prototype of a careerist has managed to win the sympathy of both males and females, simply by providing appropriate services to both.

Monkey

Observing monkeys in the zoo, we sometimes see how they look for something in each other's fur. The opinion has taken root that this is a mutual "selection of fleas". However, it is not. The fact is that monkey wool is an unreliable refuge for fleas (it is very rare), and therefore fleas are very rare in it. What then are the monkeys looking for in each other's wool? It turns out that the subject of their search is dandruff, scales of dead skin, salty from sweat and, apparently, very tasty for monkeys. By the way, by "choosing fleas" monkeys show their affection for a partner.

But that's not all. It turns out that during skin scratching, the so-called autologous opiates (endorphins) are released, which have a pronounced calming and euphoric effect on the central nervous system. This is why monkeys love to itch so much.

Those who believe that monkeys live only in Africa or in hot countries are mistaken. In the very north of Japan, in an almost uninhabited region, in a mountainous area where snow lies for four months a year, the red-faced macaque (or Japanese) lives. Macaques, which have thick long light wool, run and tumble in the snow, swim in hot non-freezing mountain lakes and feed on low-calorie tree bark in winter.
