Ceramic braces - types, advantages and cost of models. Ceramic braces: photos before and after treatment Ceramic braces and how they look

From this article you will learn:

  • what are dental braces: photos, which are better,
  • ceramic braces, metal braces - reviews,
  • how much do dental braces cost - price 2020 in Moscow.

Braces have been used to correct crooked teeth since 1955. The term "braces" refers to only one element of the brace system - these are metal or ceramic plates that are glued to the teeth. In addition to the braces themselves, such a system includes a metal arch, ligatures, springs and many other elements ...

How long do braces wear -
the average duration of occlusion correction with braces is approximately 2-3 years. But with small changes in the bite, it can last about 1 year. The optimal time to start correcting malocclusion is from 8 to 14 years (at this age, the facial bones are still growing, which makes it easier to move the teeth). Teeth move longer in adults than in children.

How do braces work -

A standard bracket system consists of 3 main components –

  1. braces (special plates that are glued to the teeth),
  2. a metal arc (with its help the braces are connected to each other),
  3. mechanism for fixing the arc in the bracket groove (using ligatures, or locking fasteners).

Braces work by applying constant slight pressure to the teeth. The pressure is created by means of a metal arc that passes through each bracket and connects them to each other. In the course of treatment, the orthodontist will use metal arcs of different shapes and thicknesses, weaken or tighten the ligatures more strongly - all this allows you to change the degree of pressure on the teeth, achieving the desired position.

It must be said that not only the teeth themselves are under pressure, but most importantly, the bone tissue around them. Under the pressure experienced in the bone tissue, the processes of bone remodeling are started (parallel resorption of the bone in the direction of movement of the tooth, and its formation behind the direction of movement of the tooth). This process is very slow and therefore the treatment takes a long time.

Types of braces -

All types of braces can be classified according to several parameters, for example, by the type of material and by design features. We will describe in detail below about their pros and cons of each type.

Braces systems: types (table 1)

In the photo you can see the different types of braces listed in table 1

How to choose the right braces -

We offer you a model for choosing braces based on several points:

  • firstly, to determine the acceptable level of aesthetics,
  • secondly - with the level of comfort, reliability and speed of treatment,
  • thirdly - with a design (ligature or non-ligature),
  • the fourth criterion is the cost of braces.

1. First assess the acceptable level of aesthetics

To choose the right braces - first you need to decide on the level of aesthetics that you expect from them (website). If you are not at all embarrassed by the fact that people will see them, feel free to choose metal braces that are fixed on the front surface of the teeth. These braces are the most reliable and effective.

If you would like the braces to be less visible, then you will have to choose between sapphire and ceramic braces on the one hand, and lingual braces on the other. Braces that are fixed from the inside of the dentition are called lingual (these braces are not visible at all).

There is practically no difference between sapphire and ceramic braces. The former are made of monocrystalline alumina, the latter are made of polycrystalline alumina. They differ from each other only in the degree of transparency. Ceramic - white, opaque (they are suitable for people with a darker shade of teeth). Sapphire - translucent (they are more suitable for teeth of light shades).

2. Compare different types of braces with each other in terms of comfort, reliability and speed of treatment -

3. Ligature braces and ligatureless braces - which ones are better?

Ligature braces - they have special elastic bands or thin orthodontic wire as a mechanism for fixing the arc in the bracket groove (Fig. 1-5,11,13). Ligature-free braces are also called self-ligating braces; there is a special snap-on lock on their surface that reliably holds the metal arc in the bracket groove (fig. 12, 14, gif).

Ligature-free braces: photo

Ligature-free braces can be made of metal, ceramic, or a combination of materials (for example, the body of the bracket is made of ceramic, and the bracket groove or lock is made of metal, as in Fig. 9).

Types of ligature-free braces –

  • "Victory", "SmartClip" and "Clarity SL" (Germany),
  • "In-Ovation- R ", "In-Ovation- FROM", "In-Ovation- L " (USA),
  • "Damon clear" (fig. 14), "Damon Q", "Damon 3-MX" (USA).

If your doctor says that only non-ligature braces are suitable for yours, then he is clearly disingenuous. The fact is that they usually cost 2-3 times more to correct the occlusion with such braces. And this price appears not so much because of the slightly increased cost, but primarily because self-ligating braces are positioned in advertising as the most modern and most effective.

Comparison of ligature and non-ligature braces -

  • Easy to change ligation type (versatility)
there is an active and passive fixation of the metal arch in the bracket groove (ligation type). Active fixation means that the archwire will be tightly clamped in the bracket groove and will not be able to slide freely in it (Fig. 15). With passive fixation, there will be no tight contact between the arch and the bracket groove and the arch will slide freely in the groove (Fig. 16).

The only drawback of metal braces is that they are clearly visible on the teeth. But you can personalize them and make them colorful using multi-colored rubber ligatures. And for the most fashionable, it is possible to install braces in the shape of hearts, flowers, soccer balls or stars. All the advantages and disadvantages of metal braces, see table 2.

    Braces info: frequently asked questions

    How safe are dental braces?

In general, wearing braces is a safe procedure. However, wearing them complicates oral hygiene, which can lead to the buildup of plaque and tartar. If plaque and stone are not removed in time, this is a hello to the development of caries and gum disease.

Secondly, the process of moving teeth leads to the fact that the roots of the teeth become slightly shorter (the tops of the roots partially dissolve). Loss of root length can lead to less tooth stability, especially in people who have a short physiological root length initially.

What are the benefits of early treatment?

When correcting a bite, in most cases, the patient goes through a stage when his upper incisors will (temporarily) protrude forward. Such protruding teeth, especially in children, are most susceptible to injury from falls and bruises; besides it is not very aesthetically pleasing. Early treatment avoids this situation.

Also, early occlusion correction allows the orthodontist to positively influence the growth of the jaw, the width of the dental arches, improve the child's aesthetics and self-esteem, and eradicate bad habits. Also, the process of eruption of permanent teeth is improved by creating a place for them to erupt (in case of its lack), the total time of orthodontic treatment and its cost are reduced, and diction is improved. Ceramic braces belong to the transparent types of bracket systems and look more aesthetically pleasing compared to classic metal braces, but are more fragile.

There are a large number of tones and halftones for ceramic braces; they are selected based on the patient's own enamel color. The ceramic coating does not interact with food dyes, that is, special diets and exclusion of coloring foods, drinks, berries, etc. from food are not required. Unlike classic braces, ceramic braces do not cause allergies and do not disturb diction, and are also easily dismantled without leaving marks on the enamel of the teeth. As with all bracket systems, ceramic has its drawbacks - ceramics are more fragile and with severe malocclusion in a patient it is not always possible to use this material, ceramics are more expensive than metal and the treatment time is longer than when using metal structures.

An aesthetic and efficient method of bite restoration - ceramic bracket system... Its important advantage is invisibility on the teeth. This effect is achieved due to the natural color scheme of the ceramics.

Structural moments

Ceramic bracesproduced with or without ligature.

  • IN ligature braces the fixing of the arc is fastened with rubberized or metal rings.
  • IN ligature-freefastening is performed by a specialized element - a snap-on clip. This option is more hygienic - food does not get stuck in the structure.

Ligature braces are much cheaper than ligature ones, but the treatment period is longer. In both versions, braces are individually matched to the color. As a result, they are almost invisible on the teeth. The only thing you can see is the arc. It is metallic, but you can spray it with whitish paint. In this version, the arc will have to be changed more often - it is painted from food. Ceramic braces pros and cons has, like all braces.

Advantages of ceramic braces

  • A huge number of tones and halftones have been developed in ceramics. You can adjust the color individually.
  • Ceramics do not interact with food coloring. You can safely drink tea, coffee, eat blueberries and more.
  • They have a rounded shape. They do not harm the tongue and mucous membranes in the mouth.
  • Unlike metal braces, ceramic braces do not cause allergies.
  • They do not break diction at all, unlike lingual ones.
  • They are simply dismantled and do not leave any marks on the teeth.
  • They are cheaper than gold or lingual.

Disadvantages of ceramic braces

Let's make a comparison between classic metal braces and ceramics.

  • Ceramics are more fragile and therefore not always usable. This is especially true for severe malocclusion.
  • A little more long-term treatment.
  • Ceramics are more expensive than metal.

Today many companies produce ceramic braces. Dignity and cons of ceramic braces differ depending on the manufacturer.

Popular models and manufacturers

  • GAC Company (USA), Mystique made of reinforced ceramics. The system is stronger than analogues. Details were opened with film silicate. The model is completely invisible.
  • 3M Unitek (USA), Clarity APC braces. It features a metal groove and a unique hub. Treatment is fast. Placed without glue. Installation of ceramic braces this model is faster. Reflector adhesive is present.
  • ORMCO company (USA), Damon-3 brand - ligature-free. It is the smallest of the ceramic systems. Low friction in grooves. Perfectly corrected in a shorter time. Equipped with a quick-snap clip. You can quickly change the arc.
  • Forstadent (Germany) from Quick Klear. The color of the model is almost indistinguishable from the teeth. The bracket is as firmly attached to the enamel as possible, but is removed almost instantly. Leaves no marks or scratches. The edge of the bracket is slanted, so the latch mechanism is extremely reliable.
  • Dent aurum company (Germany), Jewels - colored braces. They are super popular among teenagers. Produced only on an individual basis. The only drawback is the high cost. The company also produces Fascination 2 - specialized braces for purchased teeth. They are equipped with a special spring.
  • RMO Company (USA), model LUXI II - has a gold groove (18 ct). It has no competitors in solving complex problems of occlusion and periodontal disease. With the help of the system, the teeth can be moved smoothly. This firm produces the Signature III, a budget model with excellent efficiency.

Installation of braces

Before deciding on braces, an orthodontist consultation is needed. Only a professional is able to assess the degree of violations. He will recommend which braces can be used and which not. In most cases, you will need to be treated before installation. Teeth and gums need to be cleaned up. Remove all foci of inflammation, place fillings. Only then can you start the installation. Conventional braces are fixed for about three hours. Self-ligating systems are delivered much faster. Installation speed will vary depending on the mounting method.

Caring for ceramic braces

The ceramics are not stained, so no diet or special care is needed. There are some problems with the hygiene of the spaces between the teeth. Orthodontists advise using special brushes, toothpicks, and irrigators. If the structure has come off, burst, cracked - you need to urgently consult a doctor. This is done when pain in the teeth. Throughout the course of treatment, regular preventive examination is required.

To correct malocclusion and other defects in the dentition, dentists recommend wearing braces. The treatment process can take a year or more, depending on the complexity of the particular case. Wearing braces for a long time may seem difficult to someone, because it sometimes causes certain psychological discomfort for both women and men, not to mention children and adolescents. But today it is possible to use which are much less noticeable on the teeth than metal ones, thanks to the light shade of the ceramic plate, which, moreover, is selected taking into account the color of the patient's tooth enamel.

Ceramic braces are gaining more and more popularity among options. The reasons for this are not only aesthetics and invisibility, but also other properties, such as reliability, speed of treatment, quick adaptation of patients to them, the absence of allergic reactions - we will talk about this in more detail in this article.

Ceramic braces and their features

Ceramic braces (or bracket-system) consists of three main elements: ceramic plates, which are connected to each other using a metal arc; the third component is the elements of fastening the arch to the teeth: ligatures or locks.

Ceramic braces do not differ from their metal counterparts in terms of their structure and principle of operation. Ceramic braces are usually made of aluminum oxide, which is as strong as metal. The main feature of ceramic braces is the material, which is distinguished by high aesthetic performance and relatively inexpensive price (in comparison with other “invisible” bracket systems).

In the photo: The principle of the device and functioning of ceramic braces

1. Ceramic plate (bracket).

The ceramic plate itself can be of two types:

Translucent - the so-called sapphire braces, which are made of monocrystalline aluminum oxide (also called monocrystalline sapphire).

Opaque, made of polycrystalline aluminum oxide. The color of the opaque ceramic plate can be matched to the patient's enamel color.

2. Metal arc

A metal arch connects the braces to each other and is attached to them either with ligatures or with locks. Such an arc is made of metal and usually has a dark color, but at the request of the client it can be covered with a composite composition of a light shade, which will make it less visible.

In the photo: Ceramic braces: metal arch

3. Methods of attaching the arch to braces

There are two types of attaching a metal bar to braces:

Ligature attachment of braces

With this fastening, the metal arc is inserted into a special groove made in the bracket and fastened with ligatures - rubber rings or metal wire.

Ligature-free braces

In this case, the arc is inserted into the bracket groove, the fastening is carried out not using ligatures, but by means of special locks. The cost of such braces is higher.

Ceramic braces: reviews

From the listed features of bracket systems, we can conclude that there are much more advantages to using ceramic braces than disadvantages. And the disadvantages are not so significant as not to recognize ceramic braces as one of the most effective modern methods of correcting a dental occlusion.

In the photo: Ceramic braces: installation

Benefits of ceramic braces

The advantages of ceramic braces, first of all, include:

  • Invisibility on the teeth. Due to their light color, these braces are invisible. If the metal bow is made in a light shade (which will cost a little more), the braces will become even less noticeable.
  • Patient friendliness: quickly addictive.
  • No allergies (compared to metal counterparts, which often provoke allergic reactions).
  • Does not damage the oral mucosa.

Disadvantages of ceramic braces

There are not so many disadvantages to using ceramic braces, but they are worth mentioning:

  • Increasing the duration of treatment. Due to the fact that ceramic braces cannot be tightened strongly, unlike metal braces, the treatment period increases by at least several (4-5) months.
  • Medium strength. Ceramic is, of course, more fragile than metal, so you need to carefully follow the rules for handling such braces so as not to break them.
  • Very careful maintenance is required. Read about the rules for caring for ceramic braces below in this article: the specifics of the material requires timely cleaning of all deposits.

Contraindications for installing ceramic braces

As with any procedure, there are a number of contraindications for installing ceramic braces. In each case, the doctor makes a decision based on the patient's health status and the severity of the disease. The main contraindications given below will help to get a general idea:

  • Periodontal disease, severe caries. Severe damage to the teeth, such as caries, can interfere with braces.
  • Serious health problems - cardiovascular, immune system diseases.
  • Mental illness.

Ceramic braces: photos before and after treatment

Sometimes they think that it is possible to correct the bite qualitatively only in childhood or young age. But this is not the case. Photos before and after treatment with the help clearly demonstrate that it is possible to correct occlusion problems effectively at any age.

In the photo: Indications for the installation of braces. Before treatment

Metal arches and locks act on the ligaments that hold the tooth, thereby changing the bite.

In the photo: Ceramic braces. At the beginning of treatment

Ceramic braces are worn longer than metal braces and can range from a year to 1.5 years. Every 7-8 weeks, you need to make a visit to the dentist, as well as contact a specialist for any problems that arise.

In the photo: Ceramic braces. During treatment

At the end of the treatment period, after removing the braces, it is necessary to consolidate the result obtained - the correct bite. For these purposes, more convenient devices are used: retainers, trainers and mouth guards. These constructions, which are invisible to others and do not cause discomfort to the patient, help to fix the correct position of the teeth.

Ceramic braces and their care

For the period of wearing braces, it is necessary to follow some recommendations of dentists for care and rules of use, which will avoid possible problems and keep the braces in good condition.

In the photo: Ceramic braces care products

    • Firstly, you need to prevent any actions that can lead to breakage of braces: you should not touch the braces with your hands, and you should also refuse any solid food.
    • You should brush your teeth after every meal. If this is not possible, use dental floss and a special brush, which must also be used after regular brushing.

In the photo: Ceramic braces: rules of use

  • Keep the brush upright while brushing your teeth.
  • It is necessary to regularly use a rinse for the teeth, as well as a multifunctional irrigator that cleans teeth from deposits.
  • Conduct a professional if necessary (if there are no contraindications to this).

Ceramic braces: price in Moscow

The price of ceramic braces in Moscow ranges from 20,000 rubles. up to 250,000 rubles. Depending on the manufacturer, on the type of bracket system, as well as on a specific clinic, prices will differ significantly. So, sapphire braces will cost about 250,000 rubles.

Experienced specialists carry out the installation of ceramic braces systems using the latest techniques and using the best modern materials.

Hello dear readers !!!

For a long time I did not know that adults can also align their teeth with braces. And I have long gone through adolescence, began to consciously perceive the world around me. What I've always really lacked is the ability to smile without embarrassment. To be honest, I do not know how to smile at all (probably already "did not know how"). Now I wear braces and I realize that I will soon be able to smile, and compliments about my smile will not feel like comfort. Although I am very ashamed, I will add the appearance of my teeth for you at the initial stage.

I chose ceramic braces ... There is one simple reason for this: aesthetics ... I absolutely did not want to make something bright out of my teeth (already ugly).

Sure, their price is much higher than ordinary metal ones (twice). One the jaw cost me 6400 hryvnia (in rubles, multiply by four). And the second is the same. Before that, there was still a plate for expanding the jaw for 500 hryvnia ... As for follow-up appointments, I don't pay for anything. Only for tooth extraction (two hundred hryvnia). This is such an expensive beauty. But the main thing is the view. I did not regret it at all.

It seems to me that most of the people I come across (colleagues, acquaintances, classmates) do not notice that something is glued on my teeth. Maybe, of course, out of politeness, no one asks, but still I feel more confident.

Before I got braces, I read that with ceramic you need to walk longer than with metal. My orthodontist said that nothing depends on the type of braces and was not at all opposed to installing ceramic ones for me. By the way, when choosing braces it was very important for me to see how they look in life, but I searched the Internet and could not understand how sapphire differs from ceramic, so if you have the same difficulties, i will show you my teeth, you will know how ceramic braces look on normal curves teeth.

___________________________ Update _____________________________________

upper jaw ( HF) 4 months and 5 days; lower jaw ( LF) 2 months and 10 days.

I removed two fours (it is a painless procedure, you won't even notice ) (at LF and HF). The empty seats were almost dragged on. With special rubber bands, the teeth are pulled to an empty place. it accompanied by aching pain ... But only the first two days. And the hole between the teeth appears in a different place, until it reaches the place where the teeth do not have enough space.

Brushing the teeth with braces requires special attention. I use Lacalute brushes and Colgate interdental brushes. Most often I buy a special Oral-B ORTHO brush. And her toothpaste and tooth powder. If I can't find an Oral-B brush, then I buy a Reach replacement.

The process is underway. 4 months have passed ... Now on the upper jaw there is an arch in three layers, I do not know what it is called, but it looks like a cobweb. The teeth tighten well, but they hurt a little the first day.

So, today is exactly six months for my upper braces !!!

I smile!

______________________________ Update __________________________________

Celebrating 8 months with braces on the upper jaw. Has already experienced the appearance of a new gap between the teeth. It was a little weird, but I trust my doctor, so I wasn't worried.

And now I am happy again. Here's another aching pain will pass and I will heal again, smiling.

I entered the home stretch. The holes between the teeth were tightened. The treatment process is still underway. Now I wear special rubber bands on my teeth to correct my bite. With a normal bite, the upper teeth should slightly cover the lower ones, but they do not stand in exactly two rows, as many mistakenly believe.

The first time with them is very uncomfortable. My teeth hurt terribly after changing the ligatures, and the rubber bands immediately began to pull them. The pain was felt for about a week, but after that it completely disappeared. I need to wear elastic bands for a month... I do not advise you to eat with them, although the doctor told me so. It is possible and even necessary to open the mouth with them, but it is inconvenient, it is impossible to chew. Elastic bands can tear... I change them every morning because they are very stretched out and can no longer fulfill their main function. And sometimes they break, if I really wanted to yawn. Even with such rubber bands it is difficult to sneeze. I haven't sneezed normally in two weeks. Well, these are the little things in the life of a bracket bearer.

Arc change 9 months after installation

I usually had a very thin arc. This is not the first replacement, but it used to be almost invisible at arm's length. Now my teeth are literally bound with hard and thick wire, which is shiny and well visible. This has long ceased to sadden me.

At the same time, I do not feel much pain. On the second day after the replacement, I could not eat solid, but this is nonsense.

RESULTS

Almost happy end

Almost, because my smile has not become Hollywood, but it looks much better than it was a year ago.

REMOVING BRACES

I have repeatedly read questions about how braces are removed and what sensations are accompanied by it. I think you guessed from the review that I was not one of the faint of heart, so I was not particularly cowardly before the penultimate reception of my braces story.

So, about the process

They simply remove braces - they break them off the teeth. I assumed that it would be a special liquid that would dissolve the glue, but everything is much simpler. The braces were torn off with some kind of metal thing. At the same time, a crunch is heard. My orthodontist said that everything went well because braces can break in some cases. With me, they all remained on the arc, which they pulled out after breaking off the records.

Sensations

At first, the crunch is alarming... I was afraid my teeth would break. Discomfort is felt, but not pain. This was the case with the front teeth. As for the posterior teeth (from 4 to the end) may be painful but tolerant.

Immediately after peeling off the braces, the teeth are cleaned from the glue. This is done using a noisy boring machine. The sound is unpleasant, the sensations are too.

It turned out that the braces themselves were removed in two minutes, and clean much longer... If you have a fear of the boring machine, then there may be a problem, because the dentist will work with it for a long time.

After my teeth were polished, but not bleached. I think that brushing was enough for my teeth already. The teeth did not become pearly white, there is still a little yellowness, which I am struggling with using a whitening toothpaste (by the way, I recommend paying attention to it).

After that did dental impression... They applied a solution to a special form, stuck it to the teeth, and when it dried (after a couple of minutes), tore it off. After that, I again asked the doctor a question: "There are not my teeth left?" It just feels like something has been torn off, but it doesn't hurt, it's just unpleasant.

============================

Caps

I did not live a free life for long, because my mouthguards were ready in a day. These are silicone (or plastic) "covers" for teeth. They are not soft, but even hard, so they can keep the teeth in the right position.

Mouthguards are a necessary measure after removing braces, because the teeth quickly return to their original place, that is, all suffering will be in vain. I was convinced from my own experience that the teeth move. Immediately after removal, I had a gap between my lower teeth, and the next day it was gone. The mouthguards sat down with difficulty, because the teeth had already "gone".

============================

FEELING WITH KAP

At first, wearing trays is uncomfortable and unpleasant. They also affect speech, I began to lisp a little. But there is no pain, wounds on the lips are not formed either. Only the tongue slides over them all the time, even began to hurt.

I've been wearing mouthguards for a month , got used to them, but all the same, my hands reach out to take off and put on. The upper mouthguard is cracked in one place, but the shape has not changed, just now the edge is cropped a little. This is a warning to you that you should not take them off and wear them often..

I hate the fact that mouthguards smell unpleasant if worn for a long time. In the morning it is generally impossible ... I immediately run to brush my teeth. The mouthguards must also be cleaned.

============================

HOW MUCH TO WEAR

The orthodontist recommended wearing mouth guards for 1.5 months regularly, that is, day and night, and then it is possible only at night. I think they should always be worn whenever possible. I read somewhere that you need to wear mouth guards in half the time that braces were installed. But even after this time, one should not forget about them. It is better to wear mouth guards for several years at night. I know that even after the incident of 5 years, they are dressed for the night.

Good luck on your way to a beautiful smile !!

I will be glad to answer all your questions!

Good day, dear readers. Today, the topic of our discussion will be ceramic braces. I will tell you not only about what they are, but also about the pros and cons, prices and other nuances. It is also worth studying the reviews of real people who used the installation service and can tell about their feelings and the effectiveness of the products.

Ceramics are becoming more and more popular. After all, few people want to "shine" with pieces of iron in their mouths. People are willing to pay more for beauty. But how effective are these options? What if we are being deceived? Many of us have similar thoughts. Still, there is a lot of money, and if there is a risk, is it not worthwhile to think carefully before giving it to doctors?

What are ceramic braces?

What are ceramic braces and how effective are they? They perform exactly the same functions as their metal counterparts. The only difference is that translucent or matte ceramics are used instead of metal. All of these products are manufactured abroad. We only customize the system to fit your anatomy.

Almost all models are of high quality. Even those that belong to the economy category. So, if the money was only enough for the budget option, that's okay.

Types of ceramic braces

These braces made of ceramic can be vestibular (external) and lingual (internal). Exists different types ceramic braces, which differ not only in appearance, but also in the principle of action.

  1. Ligature. Here the arc is attached with a ligature. The most common type of braces.
  2. Ligature-free. They are also called. Locks and other systems are used instead of ligatures. Due to the more complex mechanism, the cost of ligature-free models is higher.

Ligature-free braces are great because they don't create additional friction. That is, the teeth move without unnecessary resistance. The addiction is much faster. You need to visit a doctor for correction, etc., a couple of times a month.

Currently, ceramic ligature-free braces are produced by several large companies. The most popular models are:

Procedure

First of all, the doctor needs to find out the condition of your teeth. And this is not only about the correctness of the bite. Complete sanitation, professional cleaning is carried out. After that, an impression is made. Modern clinics have equipment that allows you to create an accurate computer model of your teeth. After examining it, the specialist sends instructions to the dental laboratory, where the manufacture is performed. Each such product is customized individually.

The system is attached to the teeth using a special highly adhesive cementing material. At the end of the course, it is removed, and the enamel surface is cleaned of this substance and polished. The doctor talks about the proper care of braces, recommends special means for cleaning teeth, etc.

About the pros and cons of ceramics

If we talk about the real advantages of ceramic models, then they are obvious. It's aesthetics and convenience. No metallic taste in the mouth. No one is allergic to this material, even though it happens even to high-quality surgical steel and (attention!) Titanium.

Combined braces are another option.

This material is less traumatic for the gums. This is a significant advantage over metal counterparts. Special grooves are applied on the inner (dental) surface. With their help, it is possible to achieve better adhesion.

How do ceramic braces look on teeth? White or transparent - very good. If a similar arch is used with them, then during a conversation your teeth will not attract the attention of strangers.

Of course, we can say that with close contact, any correction systems are visible, except. Be that as it may, the white ceramic braces with a white arch will be almost invisible when you smile. However, it also depends on the natural color of your enamel. The doctor selects the shade specifically for your teeth.

Let's move on to the traditional fly in the ointment. If you are told that such a correction system has no shortcomings, that is a lie. Even the most expensive models have them.

  1. Transparent ceramics are not diamond. Therefore, coarse food, mechanical damage, etc. are the main threats. If any bracket can come off, it is easier to break the "glass" than a metal part.
  2. The price is an obvious disadvantage. You have to pay more for beauty. The difference between metal and ceramics is obvious - one and a half times. Whether it is worth it is a difficult question.
  3. Another problem with transparent ceramics is staining. Berries, juices, coffee and tea are the sources of future problems. For a year of wearing braces, they can change their color significantly. There are more modern materials, which, according to experts, are not stained. It is worth checking this point with experienced specialists.
  4. Some patients complaining of enamel demineralization are forced to treat their teeth after the procedure.
  5. Many experts have come to the conclusion that ceramics can take a long time to effectively correct the bite.

It turns out that there are about the same number of pros and cons. Therefore, it is also impossible to say that this option is ideal. However, it should be borne in mind that metal counterparts are also far from perfect. Moreover, ceramics are several times more convenient and aesthetically pleasing.

Ceramic braces - contraindications

The list of contraindications is exactly the same as for metal counterparts:

  • mental illness;
  • periodontal disease in an advanced form, which caused increased tooth mobility;
  • caries on the front teeth;
  • chronic diseases of the heart, immune, endocrine system.

Please consult an experienced orthodontist before choosing a bite correction product.

About prices

I will not go into details of a technical nature, but I will say that the cheapest, albeit a good option, is the American ceramic braces Reflections. Made of very decent polycrystalline ceramic and aluminum oxide. Strong, quite resistant to staining.

Damon Clear is a high-quality and popular option that will cost significantly less than sapphire (monocrystalline) ceramics.

Aspire is an expensive option. The price of this translucent ceramic model is due to the use of a gilded metal groove.

The average cost of installing ceramic braces in Moscow, which I came across - from 45,000 rubles (688 dollars) to 120,000 rubles (1,800 dollars). The first amount is for a share, for both jaws. Higher ones are usually found.

Kievans write prices "from 5,000 hryvnia", which corresponds to 200 dollars. The amount is not huge. But this, as usually happens, without clarification. They do not write, on one or two jaws, do not indicate whether only the design is included here or the work is also taken into account. Some sly ones (both in the Russian Federation and in Ukrainian clinics) write separately the price of the system itself, and somewhere below, in a smaller print - separately work and services. As a result, a person comes in and faces a "harsh reality." This is how it is - modern marketing in dentistry.

Opinions on ceramic bite correction systems

Having looked around the Internet and took a little time to find reviews, I realized a few important things. Firstly, in the CIS there is a huge number of dental clinics that undertake complex work without really understanding them.

A beautiful smile is possible

Secondly, the population does not understand at all how different types of braces differ. People divide them into “beautiful” and “ugly”, “expensive” and “cheap”. The victims of incompetence are hundreds, if not thousands. All of them are now sure that nothing will help them.

At the same time, on sites with reviews, there are quite real people with photos before and after, who were satisfied. Ceramic braces helped them to put their teeth in order.

The people celebrate one big plus. When you stand in the cold, ceramics does not freeze in your mouth as much as metal. The injury rate is several times less.

Not everyone understands that if you do not then wear a retainer and aligners, the problem will return and you will have to wear braces for another year. It is difficult to go against physiology. There are many people who wore metal braces in their teens and put on ceramics after twenty. Here they, like no one else, understand how much the second option is more convenient and more pleasant in the mouth. This is not to mention that appearance a translucent ceramic part is many times more pleasant and natural than its "" counterpart.

Nothing scratches your cheeks and lips from the inside, does not cause allergies, etc. That is, if you have something to compare with, you will immediately understand why modern ceramics are much more expensive.

However, the choice is still yours. I can only wish you good luck and healthy teeth. Write, tell us about your experience. And don't forget to subscribe to updates!
